Recent Works II Exhibition
Recent works II is the second in a series of shows in which we aim to showcase some of the best output recently produced by some of the better known names in Kenyan art.
This exhibition is notable for the spectacular new mixed media 'Untitled' drawings by Peterson Kamwathi, paper works by Beatrice Wanjiku and mixed media paintings by Ehoodi Kichapi. Peter Elungat presents two outstanding large pieces in his usual genre but this time he experiments with some detailed floral surrounds to his central figure, whilst Naomi Van Rampelberg has produced new meticulously hand painted glass vessels. Peter Ngugi once again weighs in heavily on the creativity scales with his highly original 'Legislative drama season' cut outs, though with these latest works he uses old video tapes as his tool for creating depth, whilst he carves his signature silhouettes into the video cases to produce his three dimensional gems. James Mbuthia doesn't disappoint with his delightfully uplifting 'Boda boda' and finally, Richard Kimathi remains as thought provoking as ever with his mixed media canvas titled 'Space men' PressEastAfrican - 11-09-2015 - Attention! It’s time to enjoy the oh so subtle art of compromise
