Ehoodi Kichapi Exhibition
About the exhibition
The works in Ehoodi Kichapi's show are vintage Kichapi.
Dominic Martin comments: Ehoodi Kichapi is a painter of the genre 'naive' who actually manages to pull it off. First reactions to Ehoodi Kichapi are as an encounter with the possessed. Set aside the garlic and the crucifixes for a moment and you'll see that for all the graveyard imagery, they're more like a child's sketch pad of his favourite scary tale than a 'Demons for Dummies manual'. As with the best children's tales, he too deals with some very grown up issues. But if you hang out with an 'Ehoodi Kichapi' for any length of time you might be lucky enough to experience something more rewarding: embedded in these pictures is a warm and sophisticated wit. Following Kichapi's show with One Off, he will exhibit with Nini Gallery in Cape Town on 4th August 2016. PressEastAfrican - 11-06-2016 - Nuclear physics and the science of art
